Visa Requirements for Montenegro

Montenegro maintains a visa-free regime for citizens of the European Union and a number of other countries. For most eligible nationalities, holders of a valid passport may stay in Montenegro for up to 90 days.
Citizens of the EU and certain neighbouring European countries may also enter Montenegro using a valid national ID card for stays of up to 30 days.
Important change from 1 November 2026
From 1 November 2026, citizens of Belarus, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye will require a visa to enter Montenegro as part of Montenegro’s alignment with the EU visa policy.
Until 31 October 2026, temporary visa-free arrangements remain in force for several of these markets.
Entry with Schengen, UK, US or Irish visas
Clients who would normally require a Montenegrin visa may enter Montenegro for up to 30 days if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, provided that the permitted stay does not exceed the validity of that document.
Visa applications
Where a Montenegrin visa is required, applications are generally submitted through a Montenegrin embassy or consulate. Montenegro is also expanding visa application services through VFS Global in a number of markets.
As visa regulations are currently changing, we strongly recommend that tour operators and travel professionals verify the latest entry requirements for each client’s nationality before confirming travel arrangements.
