Montenegro Visas

Russian citizens are entitled to visa-free entry into Montenegro; a visa is likewise not required for citizens of Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

When crossing the border, you must present a passport that remains valid through at least the end date of your trip.

If the period of stay in the country exceeds 30 days, the passport must contain a visa. In this case, border officials may require you to present the original invitation, a housing rental agreement, or proof of a hotel reservation.

If your intended stay in Montenegro does not exceed 30 days, border services very rarely inquire about additional documents (vouchers, return tickets, etc.)

Obtaining a visa at the consulate

To obtain a visa at the consulate, you must provide the following documents:

- a passport valid for at least 3 months from the end date of the trip;
- a copy of the first page of the passport containing the applicant's details (if a child is listed in the passport of one of the parents and the child plans to travel together with the parents, attach a photocopy of the page with the child to the 1st page of the passport);
- the application form of the consular department of the Embassy of Montenegro in the Russian Federation, completed in Latin letters and signed by the applicant. The form must be filled out in clear, legible handwriting using a blue or black pen;
- a free-form application addressed to the consul requesting the issuance of a visa. The application must be typed on a computer, in Russian. The application should state the dates and purposes of the trip and the applicant's place of residence for the entire duration of the trip;
- a copy of the invitation from the host party (or a private individual), certified at the local police station, or a copy of the apartment/villa rental agreement, or confirmation from the hotel indicating the hotel's details and the name of the person responsible for the booking.

The consular fee is 62 EUR, payable in euros directly at the consular department when submitting the documents. The consular fee for a child under 14 (with their own passport or listed in a parent's passport) is 32 euros.

The consular department of the Embassy of Montenegro issues visas for stays ranging from 30 to 90 days (the number of days usually depends on the duration of stay indicated in the invitation).

Documents are submitted to the consulate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 09:00 to 12:00. No prior appointment is required.

The visa is processed within two weeks from the date the documents are submitted.

Citizens of Kazakhstan will also need a visa to enter the country. The required documents are: a copy of the passport, an invitation or voucher, and a completed application form. Processing takes about a month, and the cost is 35 EUR.
