INTERESTING FACT: you will see the beautiful Pentadaktylos highlands, linked to the following legend: during the Arab invasions (7th–10th centuries), the giant Greek warrior Digenis Akritas halted the invaders on the shore near Paphos. He tore a piece of rock from the Troodos Mountains and hurled it into the sea, driving off the enemy fleet, while with his other hand he gripped the Kyrenia mountain range, leaving the imprint of his mighty palm – and so Mount Pentadaktylos, meaning “five fingers”, came to be.
